About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will join the Collins Aerospace team to work on flight control products for business, regional, military, and air-transport platforms. This role focuses on real-time embedded systems and requires working on-site.
What you'll do#
- Define and review software requirements, including interface requirements, for flight control systems.
- Develop and implement software architecture and design.
- Write hand-code and integrate auto-generated code from MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow models.
- Implement control algorithms and signal processing.
- Conduct requirements-based testing of flight controls software.
- Support product certification through DO-178B/C compliant development.
- Collaborate with and receive mentorship from experienced software engineers.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Actively enrolled through the end of the internship and have completed at least 60 credit hours by the start date.
- Experience developing in C or C++.
- Familiarity with object-oriented design.
- Ability to work as a U.S. Person.
- Strong preference for experience with model-based development in MATLAB/Simulink, agile methodologies, and data structures.
- Interest in avionics systems and experience working in team environments.
