About the role#
This internship position offers the opportunity to join the Propulsion Systems Analysis team. You will work with subject matter experts on engine program development and take ownership of projects that advance the discipline. This role is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support propulsion system design and analysis to optimize engine performance, fuel consumption, and operability.
- Perform thermodynamic and fluid dynamic analyses to evaluate engine systems.
- Conduct gas turbine cycle modeling and analyze system performance.
- Assist in the design and evaluation of turbomachinery components and control systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address system-level challenges and reach program objectives.
- Contribute to data analysis and validation efforts for engine development.
- Prepare technical documentation and present findings to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems engineering, or a related field.
- Actively enrolled through the completion of the internship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Completed coursework in thermodynamics.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by federal regulations.
- Preference for candidates who have completed 60 credit hours by the start of the session.
- Preference for completed coursework in gas turbine cycle modeling, gas dynamics, compressible flow aerodynamics, and turbomachinery component design.
- Exposure to control system design, aerodynamics, and flight mechanics is helpful.
- Experience with NPSS (Numerical Propulsion System Simulation) software is preferred.
