About the role#
Join the Z-Fab (Wafer Fabrication) team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as a Chemical/Materials Engineering Co-op. You will apply engineering concepts to drive changes in manufacturing operations. Your work will focus on improving product quality, reducing costs, and optimizing production flow. This role requires collaboration with manufacturing engineers, production personnel, and management to solve day-to-day challenges.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing processes, including equipment, floor layouts, work instructions, and workflow.
- Conduct studies on cost control, productivity, inventory, and production record systems.
- Review products and processes for quality, safety, and producibility risks.
- Work with design teams to incorporate changes that eliminate identified risks.
- Manage moderately sized projects or processes.
- Develop tactical plans to manage daily operational challenges.
- Travel occasionally to local Iowa regional sites.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
- Actively enrolled through the completion of the co-op session.
- Minimum of 60 credit hours completed.
- Prior experience in manufacturing environments.
- Strong background in Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience with CAD software.
- A track record of driving continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
