About the role#
We are looking for an Engineering Student to join our Mechanical Analysis department for the Winter 2027 term. You will work under the supervision of experienced staff to select materials and processes that meet the physical and chemical requirements of the space environment. You will be treated like a new graduate, with tasks assigned based on your current level of schooling and experience.
What you'll do#
- Support the design of space-borne equipment by addressing issues such as outgassing, contamination, atomic oxygen, corrosion, stress-corrosion, humidity, and radiation.
- Work in a concurrent engineering environment to provide solutions.
- Provide support to the Engineering, Procurement, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing departments.
- Assist with laboratory testing of metallic and polymeric materials.
- Draft technical documents including testing reports, procurement specifications, and manufacturing processes.
- Help prepare deliverables for clients.
- Learn material specifications and space industry requirements.
What you'll need#
- At least 90 credits completed toward a bachelor degree in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents.
- Initiative, interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to your work.
- Ability to obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, as well as pass a security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program and ITAR.
