About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to work with a team of engineers on advanced manufacturing projects. You will gain exposure to the aerospace industry while solving real-world engineering challenges. This role is based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and requires working on-site. U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
What you'll do#
- Manage project tasks, resources, and timelines to meet specific goals.
- Plan and implement automation capital projects.
- Research, evaluate, and test new technologies to improve shop floor productivity and quality.
- Provide engineering guidance to optimize manufacturing techniques and equipment use.
- Integrate automation solutions into factory systems.
- Implement Smart Factory technologies and add digital data acquisition to legacy test equipment.
- Analyze manufacturing data and build dashboards to display metrics for operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Systems, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Completion of at least 30 credit hours before the start of the session.
- A solid understanding of engineering principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Lean principles, and concepts.
- Experience with design software like SolidWorks or Siemens NX.
- Experience delivering presentations.
- Preferred: A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Preferred: Certifications in robotics (ABB, Fanuc), LabVIEW, or PLCs.
- Preferred: Knowledge of control systems and coding, such as Ignition, MATLAB, or Ladder Logic.
- Preferred: Experience with data acquisition equipment like cDAQ or PLCs.
- Preferred: Ability to design testing processes, verify measurement systems, and perform gage R&R.
- Preferred: Familiarity with 3D modeling, laser cutting, and vision systems.
