About the role#
As a Student Nurse Tech, you will work within the Neuroscience and Stroke Unit to provide direct care to patients and their families. You will work under the direction of a Registered Nurse to contribute to high-quality care while gaining hands-on experience in a clinical setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide total hygiene care, including bathing, skin care, and toileting.
- Assist patients with ambulation and transport.
- Help patients with feeding, offer fluids and snacks, and record their intake.
- Respond to call lights and requests from patients or families.
- Document vital signs and inform the nurse of any changes in patient status.
- Perform point of care testing as delegated by the RN.
- Provide and document compassionate comfort and non-pharmacological pain management.
- Maintain a clean working environment and assist with stocking supplies.
- Keep the RN updated on patient activities and observations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Completion of Nursing Fundamentals coursework, verified by a transcript.
- AHA Healthcare Providers BLS Certification.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer relation skills.
- Knowledge of human growth and development, including assessment and treatment ranges.
