About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Prisma Health, you will assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves preparing and distributing medications while following state and federal regulations. You will perform tasks specific to your intern certification status and support the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and label drug orders under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Calculate and compound aliquot doses.
- Transport medications to patient care areas.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock shelves, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Maintain required records and documentation.
- Receive or initiate verbal medication orders when authorized.
- Provide training and participate in the education of departmental employees and students.
- Suggest improvements for procedures and training guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current registration with the South Carolina State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy intern.
- Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved technician course OR current enrollment in an accredited professional academic pharmacy program.
- Ability to maintain satisfactory progress in your academic program.
- Knowledge of pharmacy and medical terminology.
- Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well in team settings and handle stressful, urgent situations.
- Proficiency in National, State, and Corporate regulatory standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with staff and others.
