About the role#
The Propulsion Systems Analysis (PSA) organization within Engine Design & Systems Integration (EDSI) manages the development and certification of gas turbine engines. This internship focuses on the PW1100G-JM engine program, which powers the Airbus A320NEO and A321NEO aircraft. You will join a team responsible for engine performance, system modeling, validation, and fleet support.
What you'll do#
- Conduct system trade studies to optimize the engine thermodynamic cycle for performance, durability, and operability.
- Support production, aftermarket, and fielded engine performance through trend analysis, statistical process control, and deterioration modeling.
- Investigate engine events using production and field data sources.
- Plan and execute engine validation testing and certification activities.
- Integrate systems organization tasks with component groups, partners, and production sites.
- Execute the transformation of technical tools and processes.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Coursework or experience in thermodynamics, engine performance, aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, or related disciplines.
- Experience with coding languages such as Python, Matlab, or NPSS.
- Must be a U.S. Person as defined by federal regulations.
