About the role#
As a Mechanical Controls Intern, you will join the Control System Engineering and Electrification organization. You will lead the end-to-end requirements lifecycle for complex mechanical systems. This role involves partnering with design teams, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and program leadership to develop component solutions. You will drive technical rigor through requirements management, decomposition, and supplier engagement to meet program objectives.
What you'll do#
- Manage one or more control component specifications.
- Coordinate hardware item Flight Safety and safety requirements.
- Resolve technical supplier compliance gaps.
- Serve as the technical and project owner for supplier reviews.
- Address issues during supplier development validation testing.
- Prepare hardware for engine test readiness.
- Complete component certification and qualification checklists, including plans and reports.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective action for field issues.
- Support the integrated product team lead on engineering changes for controls components.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering through the end of the internship.
- Minimum of 30 credit hours completed by the start of the session.
- Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA.
- Experience with CAD software such as NX, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Experience presenting information to a team is preferred.
- Experience working on a cross-functional team is preferred.
- Experience with DOORS, MATLAB, or other modeling software is preferred.
