About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our Space Systems Division in Silver Spring, Maryland. You will contribute to the production of flight mechanisms for Separation Systems. This role is a full-time, on-site position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside a mentor and team members to apply engineering concepts to real-world challenges.
- Lead development projects independently.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver results.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors for feedback and progress updates.
- Participate in tech talks and professional networking events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work in small, high-performing teams.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Proficiency in Solidworks and SiemensNX.
- Experience with CAD/CAM, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, machining, and Python.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12 consecutive weeks beginning in May or June).
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour.
- Work modality: On-site, full-time.
