About the role#
The 2027 Product Safety Intern will join the Safety Management System (SMS) Program Office at Pratt & Whitney. This role supports both military and commercial engine programs by focusing on safety management fundamentals, risk assessment, and operational safety. You will work across the value stream to help maintain safety standards and improve internal processes.
What you'll do#
- Support hazard identification, assessment, and proactive risk management within the SMS Program Office.
- Collaborate on mitigation strategies and assist the safety investigations team with data analysis and database management.
- Monitor safety metrics to identify emerging issues and adverse trends while working with engineering teams to determine root causes.
- Collect and analyze human factors data to support continuous improvement of company systems.
- Interface with internal leadership and external investigative bodies to support safety administration.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Science.
- Previous experience in Manufacturing, Military, Aerospace, or Aviation sectors.
- Familiarity with safety systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of aircraft engine systems and validation processes.
- U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in East Hartford, Connecticut.
- The role follows a rolling term structure.
