About the role#
The Plant Engineering Intern works with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to improve plant efficiency and optimize run time. This is a full-time, on-site role for Summer 2027 located in Fairbank, Iowa. You will contribute to projects involving plant operations, maintenance, and process optimization.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot and identify process needs to maintain production levels.
- Assist in the development of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department and outside vendors to determine equipment needs, tools, and inspection frequencies.
- Work with the management team to strengthen and develop plant operating procedures.
- Compile and analyze data relating to plant operations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding projects and processes while promoting a culture of safety and environmental compliance.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior-level student enrolled full-time at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in various plant environments including different temperature ranges.
