About the role#
The Plant Engineering Intern works with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to improve plant efficiency and optimize run time. You will troubleshoot process issues, assist with predictive and preventative maintenance programs, and support environmental compliance. This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Identify process needs to keep production levels steady.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department and outside vendors to define equipment needs, tools, and inspection frequencies.
- Compile and analyze data to support plant operations.
- Assist the management team in developing and updating plant operating procedures.
- Research location-specific initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all projects and processes.
- Promote safe behavior and environmental compliance in all tasks.
- Support food safety and quality standards for all products.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior-level standing at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Enrollment in a Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering degree program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week across a variety of shifts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new software.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Problem-solving abilities and an objective, innovative mindset.
- Familiarity with DCS control and historian systems is preferred.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions and heights.
