About the role#
The Plant Engineering Intern works with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to improve plant operations and optimize run time. You will assist in troubleshooting process needs to maintain production levels and help develop predictive and preventative maintenance programs. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Mitchell, South Dakota, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot and identify process needs to maintain production levels.
- Assist in the development of predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
- Compile and analyze data related to plant operations.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department and outside vendors on maintenance programs, including determining equipment needs and inspection frequencies.
- Work with management to develop and strengthen plant operating procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding projects and processes while promoting safe behavior and environmental compliance.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior-level student enrolled full-time at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Agriculture.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
