About the role#
PCL Construction is hiring a Software Developer Student for our North American Headquarters in Edmonton, Alberta. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Winter 2027 term, spanning 8 to 12 months. You will work on-site to build software systems that support our staff and construction crews.
What you'll do#
- Write clean, scalable, and secure web applications.
- Design and develop in-house software systems for staff and construction crews.
- Collaborate with the team to implement new features.
- Optimize and create UX and UI components to visualize big data.
- Integrate various enterprise systems.
- Create and execute unit tests, participate in proof of concepts, and research emerging technologies.
- Deploy and modify application infrastructure while using script automation to optimize workflows.
- Incorporate AI tools to assist with development tasks and enhance data integrity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science or Computer Engineering program.
- A desire to learn and apply technologies like SQL, C#.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST API, TypeScript, and Angular.
- Familiarity with agile software development practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a security-first mindset.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Previous exposure to ERP environments or AI workflows is considered an asset.
