About the role#
PCL Construction is seeking a Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Student Intern for a full-time position in Honolulu, Hawaii. This internship takes place during the summer of 2027 for a duration of three to four months. The role is on-site and provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction safety within the US Buildings sector.
What you'll do#
- Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information.
- Monitor site-specific programs, requirements, and compliance.
- Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements.
- Apply basic knowledge of behavioral concepts to the workplace.
- Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce.
- Liaise with project and field management.
- Recognize behaviors, conditions, and activities that may affect health.
What you'll need#
- Working toward a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Health Administration, Civil Engineering, or Business Administration.
- A desire to pursue a career as an HSE professional.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to learn construction processes and terminology.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Driver's License.
- Ability to navigate a construction site daily, including climbing ladders and stairs and working near heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation.
