About the role#
The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Student Intern position is a full-time, paid summer internship based in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role is designed for students pursuing a career as an HSE professional within the construction industry. The internship will last for three to four months, starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information.
- Monitor site-specific programs, requirements, and compliance.
- Recognize and follow company and local legislative requirements.
- Apply basic knowledge of behavioral concepts to workplace safety.
- Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce.
- Liaise with project and field management.
- Recognize behaviors, conditions, and activities that can affect health.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Public Health, Health Administration, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A desire to pursue a career as an HSE professional.
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Driver's License.
- Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to learn construction processes and terminology, as well as a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
- Ability to navigate a construction site daily, including climbing ladders and stairs, and working near heavy equipment and cranes.
- Knowledge of applicable OH&S, environmental legislation, and HSE processes.

- Employment is contingent upon passing a background check, a physical, and a substance abuse test.
