About the role#
We are looking for a Civil or Mechanical Engineering student to join our Canadian Industrial Division in Edmonton. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term, starting in January 2027 for a duration of 8 months. You will work on-site under the direct supervision of a lead estimator.
What you'll do#
- Learn and use PCL estimating manuals, systems, and forms.
- Review quantity survey assignments with your lead estimator.
- Perform assigned quantity surveys and provide major purchase item quantities to the purchasing department.
- Transfer and review quantities with the lead estimator.
- Handle bid document control and assist with bid day assignments.
- Perform general subtrade solicitation duties.
- Build relationships with trade contractors.
- Visit job sites periodically.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong desire to work in a construction environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and general computer software.
- Self-motivation.
- Prior field construction experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam is an asset.
