About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world clinical practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in store and district operations. This role is designed to prepare you for the responsibilities of a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap including Key Learning Experiences and activities.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Handle telephonic prescriptions and communicate with prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Support immunizations and other patient health care services where permissible by law.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members as you gain experience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by state regulations.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate on tasks for extended periods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
