About the role#
PCL Construction is hiring an HSE Student for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You will work within the Canadian Buildings sector to support project safety standards and environmental compliance.
What you'll do#
- Assist the HSE Professional with site inspections and investigations.
- Manage project documentation, including data entry, meeting minutes, and filing.
- Help orient new employees to the site.
- Create training materials for the team.
- Review safety paperwork such as tailgate meetings, PSI, and safe work procedures.
- Monitor the environmental program to ensure compliance.
- Analyze site trends and incidents to report findings to the district.
- Communicate and reinforce safety standards to the workforce.
- Gather and distribute safety-related statistical information.
- Follow PCL and local legislative requirements.
What you'll need#
- A strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures.
- Knowledge of environmental requirements and compliance systems.
- Ability to plan preventative measures to reduce hazard exposure.
- Skills to determine incident causes and implement corrective actions.
