About the role#
As a Student Optician, you will help customers see and feel their best. You will guide them through their eyewear choices to ensure every pair provides comfort, style, and function. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Optician, you will collaborate with retail and clinical teams to provide personalized advice.
What you'll do#
- Assist customers in understanding visual needs and interpreting optical prescriptions.
- Provide personalized guidance on frame and lens selection.
- Perform accurate dispensing measurements using digital tools.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on eyewear.
- Maintain knowledge of frames, lenses, treatments, and promotions.
- Manage after-care services and resolve complaints.
- Support contact lens recommendations and promotions.
- Handle third-party billing.
- Coach and support team members.
- Contribute to daily store operations, cleanliness, and inventory management.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Opticianry post-secondary program.
- At least 2 years of previous customer service experience.
- Ability to thrive in a retail environment while staying organized and composed under pressure.
- Reliability and flexibility to work retail hours.
- Friendly, outgoing, and confident demeanor.
- Ability to provide knowledgeable product recommendations and styling advice.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: Pickering, Ontario.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Weekend availability required, up to 24 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
