About the role#
As a Student Optician, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Optician to support our retail and clinical teams. You will help customers select eyewear that fits their visual needs, style, and comfort. This is a full-time, on-site role based in North Vancouver.
What you'll do#
- Interpret optical prescriptions and explain visual needs to customers.
- Guide customers through frame and lens selection.
- Use digital tools to perform accurate dispensing measurements.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on finished eyewear.
- Keep up to date on product knowledge, including frames, lenses, and current promotions.
- Manage after-care services and resolve customer concerns.
- Assist with contact lens recommendations.
- Handle third-party billing tasks.
- Support team members in building their optical knowledge.
- Help with daily operations, including inventory management and store cleanliness.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Opticianry post-secondary program in your province.
- At least 2 years of customer service experience, ideally in an optical dispensary.
- A friendly, confident, and outgoing personality.
- Ability to stay organized and work well in a busy retail environment.
- Reliability and flexibility regarding retail work hours.
- A focus on building long-term relationships with customers.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: 2029 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver, BC.
- Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week, with weekend availability required.
- Work modality: On-site.
