About the role#
As a Student Optician, you will help customers see and feel their best. You will work under the supervision of a Licensed Optician to guide customers through eyewear choices and ensure each pair of glasses provides comfort and style. You will collaborate with retail and clinical teams to support customers and maintain our standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist customers in understanding visual needs and interpreting optical prescriptions.
- Provide personalized guidance on frame and lens selection.
- Perform accurate dispensing measurements using digital tools.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on eyewear.
- Maintain knowledge of frames, lenses, treatments, and promotions.
- Manage after-care services and resolve complaints.
- Support contact lens recommendations.
- Handle third-party billing.
- Coach and support team members.
- Contribute to daily store operations, inventory management, and cleanliness.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Opticianry post-secondary program in your province.
- At least 2 years of previous customer service experience, preferably in an optical dispensary.
- Ability to work in a retail environment while staying organized.
- Reliability and flexibility to work retail hours.
- Friendly, outgoing, and confident demeanor.
- Ability to provide knowledgeable product recommendations and styling advice.
- Motivation to build long-term customer relationships.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
