About the role#
As a Student Optician, you will play a key role in helping customers see and feel their best. You will guide them through their eyewear choices, ensuring every pair of glasses is tailored for comfort, style, and function. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Optician, you will collaborate with our retail and clinical teams to provide personalized advice.
What you'll do#
- Assist customers in understanding their visual needs and interpreting optical prescriptions.
- Provide personalized guidance on frame and lens selection.
- Perform accurate dispensing measurements using digital tools.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on eyewear.
- Maintain knowledge of frames, lenses, treatments, and promotions.
- Manage after-care services and resolve complaints.
- Support contact lens recommendations and promotions.
- Handle third-party billing professionally.
- Coach and support team members in developing optical knowledge and skills.
- Contribute to daily store operations including cleanliness and inventory management.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an Opticianry post-secondary program in your province.
- At least 2 years of previous customer service experience, preferably in an optical dispensary.
- Ability to work in a retail environment while staying organized.
- Reliability and flexibility to work retail hours.
- A friendly, outgoing, and confident demeanor.
- Ability to provide knowledgeable product recommendations and styling advice.
- Motivation to build long-term customer relationships.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: 22-800 Grand Lake Rd, Sydney, NS.
- Hours: 30-35 hours per week, based on business needs.
- Availability: Must be available 7 days per week to match mall hours.
- Modality: On-site.
