About the role#
The Editorial Intern supports the mission of Our National Conversation by ensuring the quality and accuracy of our published materials. You will work with the Editorial Team to review books, policy proposals, op-eds, and newsletters before they reach our audience. This role involves maintaining our commitment to nonpartisanship and civil debate across all platforms.
What you'll do#
- Edit written content for our website and mobile app to ensure grammatical integrity.
- Fact-check materials to prevent errors and verify accuracy.
- Collaborate with script writers and core content writers to maintain consistency across all materials.
- Engage in dialogue with writers from across the political spectrum, including conservative, progressive, and moderate perspectives.
- Coordinate with the editorial team through Slack and Zoom to manage project status and deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for English, Literature, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills in English.
- Ability to work remotely and manage your own schedule to meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail.
- Responsive and effective communication habits.
- Prior editing experience, particularly with AP style, is preferred.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote.
- This is an unpaid internship.
- Interns must commit to at least one full semester.
- You will be expected to attend weekly Editorial Team meetings and organization-wide meetings every other week.
