About the role#
The Editorial Intern supports the mission of Our National Conversation by ensuring the quality and integrity of published materials. This role focuses on maintaining nonpartisan standards across books, policy proposals, op-eds, and newsletters. Interns collaborate with the editorial team and writers to refine content for the website and mobile app. This is a remote, unpaid internship requiring a commitment of at least one full semester.
What you'll do#
- Edit written content to ensure grammatical integrity and stylistic consistency.
- Fact-check materials to prevent errors and verify accuracy.
- Ensure all published work reflects a commitment to nonpartisanship, ideological diversity, and civil debate.
- Collaborate with script and core content writers to maintain consistency across materials.
- Engage in civil dialogue with a diverse group of conservative, progressive, and moderate writers.
- Communicate project status and deadline progress to the editorial leadership team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for English, Literature, Political Science, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing skills in English.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
- Responsive and effective communication skills.
- Prior editing experience, specifically with AP style, is preferred.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace is preferred.
- Ability to attend weekly editorial team meetings and bi-weekly organization-wide meetings.
- Authorization to intern in the United States.

- This position is fully remote.
- The schedule is flexible, allowing interns to manage their own time to meet deadlines.
- This is an unpaid position offered on a rolling basis.
