About the role#
Novelis is offering a 12-week Mechanical Engineering internship at our facility in Lincolnshire, Illinois for Summer 2027. This position provides hands-on experience working directly with our engineering team to support manufacturing operations and reliability projects. You will report to the EMRA Leader while gaining exposure to industrial mechanical systems.
What you'll do#
- Learn about industrial machinery, pumping systems, and mechanical power transmission.
- Provide support for Mechanical or Reliability Engineering projects.
- Perform modifications to engineering drawings.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, including furnaces, mobile equipment, and aluminum rolling lines.
- Work alongside staff engineers to implement maintenance and reliability standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited 4-year university as a sophomore, junior, senior, or recent graduate.
- A major in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Current authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of the organization.
- A commitment to safe working practices and team-based goals.
- Interest in developing leadership skills within a manufacturing environment.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship. A combined housing and relocation stipend is available for eligible interns.
