About the role#
Novelis is hiring an Automation Engineering Intern for our Bay Minette, Alabama facility. This role provides hands-on experience with industrial automation, process improvement projects, and data-driven manufacturing solutions. You will work in an advanced aluminum rolling and recycling environment.
What you'll do#
- Support automation, controls, and process improvement projects across the facility.
- Assist with troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams on project execution.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Document your work and present findings or recommendations to the team.
- Promote a strong safety culture and follow all environmental standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- Exposure to PLCs, HMIs, robotics, controls, instrumentation, or data analytics is preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools is preferred.
