About the role#
Novelis is offering a 12-week internship for an Automation Engineering Intern at our Davenport, Iowa facility. This role is a full-time, on-site position during the summer of 2027. You will work alongside our automation engineering team to address manufacturing challenges and gain hands-on experience in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with automation team members on manufacturing projects.
- Create, modify, and maintain automation documentation, including drawings and network diagrams.
- Establish and maintain work procedures and fixing processes for automation systems.
- Support equipment and process reliability by minimizing unplanned downtime and standardizing work methodology.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
- A strong interest in pursuing a career as an automation engineer within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven business acumen and strong leadership and collaboration skills.
- Experience with SQL programming and relational databases.
- Familiarity with Windows operating system management and configuration in a networked manufacturing environment.
- Experience with software development using Microsoft Visual Studio, C#, JSON, C++, or VB.Net.
- Experience working with Rockwell Automation PLC systems.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship. A combined housing and relocation stipend is available for eligible interns living outside of the local radius.
