About the role#
Schaeffler is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This program provides practical experience within our Engine or Chassis departments. You will work alongside professionals on technical projects and gain exposure to our manufacturing and development processes. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position based in Troy, Michigan.
What you'll do#
- Support design tasks including calculation, simulation, CAD modeling, analysis, and component sizing.
- Perform mechanical testing at the component or system level.
- Conduct teardown analysis, which involves physical disassembly, inspection photography, and documentation.
- Work with cross-functional teams to complete assigned projects.
- Participate in job rotations, hands-on training, and project work to build your professional skills.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 per semester.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and solve problems with an assertive approach.
- Physical ability to sit at a workstation for extended periods and lift up to thirty pounds.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling software, SAE collegiate competition teams, or mechanical hobbies are preferred.
