About the role#
Novelis is seeking a Process Engineering Intern for our Bay Minette facility. This role supports manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives within our aluminum operations. You will gain hands-on experience in process optimization, production support, data analysis, and quality improvement. You will work alongside Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
What you'll do#
- Support process improvement projects across manufacturing operations.
- Analyze production, quality, and process data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Assist with troubleshooting process-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
- Develop and update process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support operational excellence initiatives.
- Track project progress and communicate findings, recommendations, and results to leadership.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture while adhering to site safety and environmental standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
- Junior, Senior, or recent graduate standing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- Prior internship, co-op, laboratory, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated leadership through work, academic projects, student organizations, or extracurricular activities.
