About the role#
NiSource is seeking a Summer IT Software Engineer Intern for a 12-week program starting in May 2027. This internship provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects while collaborating with team members across the organization. You will gain a broad overview of utility industry operations and participate in professional development activities. This is a full-time, paid position requiring 40 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Create technology strategy and roadmaps for enterprise architecture.
- Support the delivery of IT application and infrastructure services.
- Oversee network technical design and manage incident, problem, and configuration processes.
- Develop and execute cyber incident response scenario exercises.
- Acquire, cleanse, and structure data to deliver analytics-based insights.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for data science, computer science, computer engineering, statistics, or mathematics.
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate study.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience with cloud, software development, data analytics, automation, or enterprise technologies.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in either Merrillville, Indiana, or Columbus, Ohio.
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location.
- The internship term is Summer 2027.
