About the role#
This is a 12-week summer internship program starting in May 2027. You will join the department as an integral team member, working under the guidance of engineering staff to support utility facility needs. The program includes professional development exercises and team-building activities, providing a broad overview of operations and the utilities industry.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate, design, and estimate electric and gas facilities.
- Provide project management support for facilities of varying complexity.
- Collect and analyze data while reviewing records.
- Create job order sketches using AutoCad.
- Perform field measurements and assemble data to create job order estimates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET accredited, four-year Engineering program (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil).
- Completion of at least one year of undergraduate study.
- Proficiency with PC applications and AutoCad.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Authorization to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Merrillville, Indiana.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
- Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the reporting location to be eligible.
