About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in broadcast media at DC News Now. Interns will work within the News Department to understand the daily operations of a television station while developing professional skills and industry contacts.
What you'll do#
- Attend news meetings to observe editorial processes.
- Transcribe interviews for news segments.
- Assist reporters and producers with daily tasks.
- Research stories for both online and broadcast platforms.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Communications or Journalism.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible when taking on a variety of assignments.
- A collaborative mindset and a strong willingness to learn.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, District of Columbia (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Commitment: 20-30 hours per week for up to 12 weeks.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship; participants are not entitled to wages, compensation, or benefits.
