About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in broadcast media production and operations. You will work directly with Technical Directors and Master Control Specialists to support daily production logistics. The role focuses on learning technical workflows and media best practices through direct mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Support studio and field production for MPR News, The Current, and YourClassical.
- Learn equipment setup, signal flow, audio mixing, video editing, and camerawork.
- Assist with broadcast systems, automation workflows, and archiving tasks.
- Collaborate with producers, engineers, and industry guests during recording sessions.
- Manage logistics for daily productions and distribution.
- Participate in professional development, including on-the-job training and formal feedback sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
- Availability for a full-time schedule (40 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.).
- Coursework or experience with audio/video equipment, including microphones, analog and digital processing, and stage setup.
- Familiarity with professional cabling and A/V equipment.
- Customer service experience.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Professionalism and a willingness to learn by doing, including moving equipment.

- Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota.
- Term: Winter and Summer 2027 (January 4 to June 4, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $20 per hour.
- Majors: Media Studies or Communications.
