About the role#
The KQED Food & Check, Please! Bay Area Editorial & Audience Engagement Intern helps connect our audience with food programming across social media, email, web, and broadcast. You will work with a small team to package content, write promotional copy, and engage with our community. This role offers the chance to contribute to the full lifecycle of our programming while assisting with production needs. We encourage you to pitch and lead a digital project that aligns with your specific interests.
What you'll do#
- Write and adapt promotional and editorial copy for social media, emails, radio, and episode descriptions.
- Create content for KQED Food social accounts, including Instagram carousels and social packages.
- Manage audience conversations across social platforms and brainstorm new ways to reach our goals.
- Update webpages and provide feedback on content to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Conduct restaurant research and assist with prospective guest reviews for Check, Please! Bay Area.
- Support producers on taping days and with other pre- and post-production tasks.
What you'll need#
- Strong writing skills and the ability to adapt your voice for different platforms.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and an interest in testing new formats.
- A passion for food and drink, ideally with knowledge of the Bay Area culinary scene.
- Ability to work independently, manage your time, and balance multiple assignments.
- Comfort with digital tools such as Google Drive, Canva, and basic video publishing software.
- Cultural competence and a desire to engage with diverse communities.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Modality: Hybrid, working between our headquarters and remotely.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Summer 2027 (January 19, 2027, to June 25, 2027).
- Schedule: 16 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship at $19.61 per hour.
