About the role#
The Education Marketing team at KQED works to increase awareness and engagement for free educational products, including the Youth Media Challenge and professional development events. This internship provides an opportunity to support the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager with online and in-person workshop production, newsletter creation, and content curation. You will help ensure our educational resources reach K-12 educators and students effectively.
What you'll do#
- Support the marketing and production of professional development workshops.
- Manage the online event calendar, including publishing and updating events.
- Create event assets such as promotional copy, images, and marketing kits.
- Draft follow-up communications for workshops and newsletter content.
- Program and schedule email campaigns.
- Assist with logistics for in-person workshops and industry conference preparation.
- Review and curate student submissions for the Youth Media Challenge.
- Report on event data and performance metrics.
What you'll need#
- Interest or experience in marketing, events, education, media literacy, or youth voice.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Ability to work independently, take direction, and manage tasks on time.
- Comfort working with spreadsheets and organizing data.
- Proficiency with the Google Suite, including documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Ability to follow journalistic standards and maintain a nonpartisan, unbiased public presence.
- Experience with Zoom webinars and Canva for image editing is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, hybrid internship based in San Francisco, California.
- In-person attendance is required at least one day per week.
- The term runs from January 19, 2027, through June 25, 2027.
- The schedule is 16 hours per week at a rate of $19.61 per hour.
