About the role#
910 Media Group and Northeastern University are partnering to engage younger audiences through digital platforms. We are hiring a Stanton Innovation Fellow for a one-year, full-time position in 2027. You will work in our Traverse City newsroom to produce local stories for Northern Michigan audiences. This role is part of a research project focused on modernizing local television news.
What you'll do#
- Conceptualize and produce video news stories for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
- Shoot and edit footage using professional cameras and editing software.
- Research topics to develop scripts and storylines.
- Write scripts that convey information clearly to viewers.
- Collaborate with our news team to gather assets and interviews.
- Review performance data to make creative decisions based on audience needs.
- Communicate regularly with the Northeastern research team about your experience in this role.
What you'll need#
- Experience as a video news producer in a newsroom or digital media environment.
- Proficiency with professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
- Strong skills in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Ability to write and tell stories that explain complex information.
- Knowledge of social media and digital streaming platforms.
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Comfort working in a new role and helping shape the future of news.
- Experience with graphic design, motion graphics, or animation is a plus.

- This position is based on-site in Traverse City, Michigan.
- This is a paid, full-time fellowship.
