About the role#
KQED is seeking a creative design intern to join our internal agency team. You will support our brand visual system by creating digital and print assets for our various programs and services. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in a non-profit media environment while collaborating with and learning from experienced design professionals.
What you'll do#
- Design and produce digital and print collateral while adhering to established brand guidelines.
- Retouch and edit photographs using Photoshop.
- Collaborate with the design team to develop concepts and synthesize feedback for project refinements.
- Manage project tasks and production timelines to meet deadlines.
- Articulate your design intentions when presenting work to internal teams and clients.
- Source photos and graphics for various projects.
- Coordinate with external vendors to get estimates and prepare print-ready files.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a BFA in Graphic Design or equivalent experience.
- A strong portfolio of graphic design work.
- Solid understanding of design fundamentals including layout, typography, color, and composition.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
- Strong creative and analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Desired skills include motion graphics, animation, illustration, lettering, Adobe AfterEffects, Premiere Pro, and HTML5 animated banner ads.
- Knowledge of public media is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 19, 2027, through June 25, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid, working between our headquarters and remotely.
- Schedule: 16 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship at a rate of $19.61 per hour.
