About the role#
KQED is looking for a Forum Intern to support our daily two-hour talk show. You will work directly with producers to create content ranging from expert panels on current events to interviews with authors and artists. This is a paid, part-time internship where you will gain hands-on experience in news writing, research, and audio production.
What you'll do#
- Pitch show ideas and research upcoming program topics.
- Conduct preliminary phone interviews with potential guests.
- Provide production support before, during, and after live broadcasts.
- Manage comment compilation and moderation during the live show.
- Create web pages and social media posts.
- Handle routine administrative tasks and answer phones.
- Edit audio content.
- Produce a few of your own shows as you gain experience.
What you'll need#
- Solid writing and communication skills.
- A professional demeanor and a high level of reliability.
- Strong interest in news and current events, including Bay Area, California, national, and international topics.
- Background in Journalism or Communications.
- Prior journalism experience is helpful but not required.

- This role is based in San Francisco, California.
- The position operates on a hybrid schedule, splitting time between our headquarters and remote work.
- This is a paid, part-time internship requiring 16 hours per week.
- The term runs from January 19, 2027, through June 25, 2027.
