About the role#
The Audience Intelligence team at KQED acts as a central data hub for the organization. We work across news, science, arts, marketing, and audience development to provide data that informs organizational decisions. As an intern, you will join our team to help us understand our audience and find stories within our data. You will lead a specific project, resulting in a deliverable you can use in your future job search.
What you'll do#
- Help develop insights and analyses that inform organizational decisions.
- Support research projects by aggregating and analyzing data.
- Execute quantitative analyses to translate data into actionable insights.
- Build visualizations that show the health and performance of our products.
- Create presentations for a variety of stakeholders.
- Mine data sets for insights and assist with automation and predictive analytics.
What you'll need#
- Intellectual curiosity for data-driven products.
- Experience with data analysis or visualization.
- Excellent writing, research, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving acumen.
- Capacity to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently.
- At least some knowledge of SQL.
- Preferred majors include Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Bonus points for knowledge of Python, dashboarding tools like Looker or Tableau, ETL tools, or databases.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, part-time internship working 16 hours per week.
- The term runs from January 19, 2027, through June 25, 2027.
- The pay rate is $19.61 per hour.
- This role is on-site at our headquarters in San Francisco, California.
