About the role#
Technical News Interns join the BRC13 news team to gain practical experience in broadcast production. You will work alongside our staff to learn the operations behind a live newscast. This role focuses on the technical side of media production, including roles like videographer, technical director, and graphics coordinator.
What you'll do#
- Accompany videographers on news assignments.
- Shoot video footage in the field.
- Operate studio cameras or the teleprompter for live broadcasts.
- Edit video content, including bumpers and teases.
- Create graphics and shoulder boxes for news segments.
- Contribute ideas during daily news meetings.
- Learn the fundamentals of directing.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of college.
- Residency in Pennsylvania.
- A valid PA driver's license with a good driving record.
- Proficiency in video editing and production.
- Preference is given to students majoring in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or Graphic Design.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug testing is required.
Location & details#
- The internship is based in Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
- This is an on-site, part-time position for the Fall 2026 term.
- Shifts occur on weekdays between 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM.
- Compensation is $10.00 per hour.
- This position is not an on-air role.
