About the role#
Technical News Interns join the BRC13 news team to gain practical experience in broadcast media production. This role provides exposure to the skills required for positions such as videographer, technical director, and graphics coordinator. Interns work on-site at the main studio in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, and may participate for college credit or as a non-credit experience.
What you'll do#
- Accompany videographers on news assignments.
- Shoot video footage and operate studio cameras or teleprompters for live newscasts.
- Edit video content, including bumpers and teases.
- Create graphics and shoulder boxes for news broadcasts.
- Participate in daily news meetings to contribute ideas.
- Learn the fundamentals of directing and assist with various technical duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of college.
- Enrollment in Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Graphic Design programs (Broadcast Journalism majors preferred).
- Established residency in Pennsylvania.
- A valid PA Driver's License and a good driving record.
- Demonstrated skills in video editing, production, camera operation, and writing.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug testing prior to the start date.
Location & details#
- Location: Lehighton, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September through December).
- Schedule: Weekday shifts typically between 9:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Interns may work between 2 and 5 days per week based on availability and college requirements.
- Compensation: $10.00 per hour.
- Note: This is an on-site, part-time position. Interns do not work in an on-air capacity.
