About the role#
This internship provides exposure to the inner workings of finance and accounting within a non-profit environment. You will support the Finance team to strengthen the organization's financial integrity, business processes, and internal controls. This is a 22-week position running from January 4 to June 4, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Complete account reconciliations, supporting schedules, accounting entries, and financial reports.
- Document and analyze workflows, including internal controls, accounting policies, and systems.
- Implement solutions to strengthen the team and improve internal controls.
- Analyze and implement cost savings initiatives.
- Work on accounting operations process and technology improvements.
- Participate in on-the-job training, professional development sessions, and organizational brown bag meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
- Completed introductory coursework in finance, accounting, audit, or information systems.
- Availability to work 24 or 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and AI tools.
- Familiarity with fundamental accounting, internal control, and auditing concepts.
- An interest in financial systems and creating efficiency through technology.
- Previous finance or accounting experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota (On-site).
- Pay: $20 per hour.
- Benefits: Eligible for sick time, health insurance as required by the ACA, and participation in the retirement plan.
