About the role#

The KOIN 6 internship program offers college students hands-on experience in broadcast and digital media. Interns gain insight into the industry through various departments, including lifestyle shows, news, digital media, promotions, sports, sales, and production. This program is designed for educational purposes and is unpaid.

What you'll do#

• Lifestyle Shows: Assist producers with script writing, researching local businesses, confirming guest appearances, and managing set props.
• News: Shadow the assignment desk, weather team, photographers, editors, and reporters to learn broadcast operations.
• Digital Media: Write and post multimedia stories, manage social media content, and update station websites.
• Promotions: Coordinate marketing activities and assist with station-sponsored functions.
• Sports: Write, shoot, and edit content for sports reports.
• Sales: Develop phone etiquette and presentation skills while learning the advertising sales process.
• Programming/Production: Assist with commercial editing, dubbing, and administrative support for on-air talent.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time student at a college or university, specifically entering or currently in your junior or senior year.
• Must receive academic credit for the internship; documentation from an academic advisor is required for consideration.
• Ability to commit to 16 hours per week for a duration of 8 to 12 weeks.
• Relevant coursework completed, such as TV production or writing/editing classes, depending on the specific department.
• Exceptional English and grammar skills for journalism roles.
• Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities.
• Working knowledge of relevant software (e.g., WordPress, CMS, AVID, Final Cut, or Adobe Creative Suite) is preferred for technical roles.
