About the role#
KWKT-TV provides supervised, educational newsroom internships for college students. This role offers hands-on experience in a professional broadcast environment. You will work alongside experienced journalists to gain practical knowledge of broadcast and digital journalism. This is an unpaid position intended for educational purposes and does not guarantee future employment. Students are expected to handle the necessary paperwork to receive academic credit for their participation.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily newsroom operations.
- Assist with news production and story development.
- Write content for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Shoot and edit video footage.
- Support the assignment desk and monitor scanners.
- Engage in active news gathering.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program related to journalism, communications, media production, or a similar field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A willingness to learn and work collaboratively with a team.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing daily requirements.
- Commitment to following company policies, safety procedures, and supervisor instructions.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of company and proprietary information.
