About the role#
WBTW News13, a Nexstar Media Group station, is looking for a News Intern to join our newsroom. This internship provides hands-on experience in a professional broadcast television environment. You will work alongside journalists and media professionals to gain exposure to news gathering, story development, and content production. This is a supervised educational experience designed to support your academic and professional growth.
What you'll do#
- Observe and participate in daily newsroom activities and editorial meetings.
- Assist with story research, fact gathering, and content preparation.
- Shadow reporters, producers, photographers, and newsroom staff.
- Monitor news sources, social media platforms, and community events.
- Assist with digital content and newsroom projects as assigned.
- Learn best practices in broadcast journalism, ethical reporting, and newsroom operations.
- Participate in a structured learning experience aligned with your college program requirements.
- Perform assigned tasks in a professional and timely manner.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university, currently pursuing a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field.
- You must be a senior in the final year of your studies.
- A demonstrated interest in broadcast journalism and local news.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- An advanced skill level appropriate for the complexity of assigned projects.
- Eagerness to learn and receive constructive feedback.
- Eligibility to receive academic credit if required by your educational institution.
- Ability to work collaboratively.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is an unpaid, part-time internship.
