About the role#
This internship provides a practical look at the broadcast industry within the KTAR News and Talk department. You will split your time between news and talk programming, gaining experience in a professional radio environment. This is a paid, part-time position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
In the newsroom, you will learn how a radio station functions by pulling audio, conducting interviews, and creating content for on-air and online distribution.
On the talk show side, you will work alongside producers and hosts to develop and refine your skills. Your tasks include:
- Editing and producing talk show podcasts and interviews.
- Operating the on-air audio console.
- Helping select stories for upcoming shows.
- Observing the daily prep process.
- Screening incoming calls for talk programs.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You are currently registered as a college or university student.
- You must be eligible to receive academic credit for this internship.
- You have basic computer knowledge.
- You can commit to 15 to 25 hours per week.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Phoenix, Arizona.
- The position requires manual dexterity to operate office equipment and the ability to work on a computer for long periods. You may occasionally need to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
