About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work with the Distribution Lines Department at Nebraska Public Power District. You will support experienced engineering staff throughout the summer of 2027. This is a paid position for undergraduate students.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of substation configurations.
- Work with equipment including autotransformers, power transformers, PCBs, MODs, capacitor banks, wave traps, switchgear, and buswork.
- Design foundations, ground grids, and conduit plans.
- Create site grading plans.
- Perform structural support analysis for various elements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering program.
- Completion of at least your sophomore year of college.
- Status as an undergraduate student.
Location & details#
- Location: Columbus, Nebraska.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May through August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $27.61 to $29.58 per hour, plus a $1,000 housing stipend.
- Travel: Up to 25% travel may be required, typically within Nebraska.
