About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to learn from experienced line technicians in the field. The role runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027. You will work on the transmission grid system and assist with construction and maintenance tasks. Overnight travel is required, often exceeding three trips per month within Nebraska.
What you'll do#
- Climb wood poles and steel towers up to 300 feet to perform repairs and construction.
- Patrol transmission lines while staying focused on safety and grid performance.
- Operate and maintain tools, digger derricks, and other hydraulic aerial equipment.
- Maintain positive relationships with property owners, customers, and other staff.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your freshman year in a Utility Line program.
- Successful completion of the first semester in the Utility Line program at Metro Community College or Northeast Community College.
- Certification to climb from an accredited institution.
- A Class A CDL by the start of employment.
- Residence within 120 minutes of the York reporting office.
- Ability to pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.
- Safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-05 specifications.

- Location: York, Nebraska.
- Pay: $25.54 per hour.
- Benefits: $1000 housing stipend.
- Schedule: Full-time, on-site.
