About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside experienced line technicians. You will assist with the operation of the distribution and subtransmission grid system. The program runs from mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Climb wood poles at any height to perform construction, maintenance, and repair tasks.
- Patrol distribution and subtransmission lines while maintaining focus on safety.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and hydraulic aerial machinery like digger derricks.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, property owners, and coworkers.
- Follow safety policies and procedures during all field tasks.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the first year of a Utility Line program at an accredited institution.
- Must be enrolled in a program that requires an internship for graduation.
- Completion of the first semester of the Utility Line program at either Metro Community College or Northeast Community College.
- Certification to climb poles through your school program.
- A valid Class A CDL license.
- Ability to live within 30 minutes of your assigned reporting office.
- Willingness to complete a background check, physical, and drug screen.
- Safety shoes that meet ASTM F2413-05 specifications.
