About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Summer CPA Articling Student position with the Assurance and Accounting team. The term lasts four months, beginning in May 2027. You will work as a trusted advisor to provide financial information that helps clients make informed business decisions.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, and ASPE standards.
- Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Set up files for new clients and businesses, manage multiple files, and conduct inventory counts.
- Perform walk-throughs for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and capital assets.
- Assess the appropriateness of audit evidence for revenues, expenses, and assets.
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, and client summaries.
- Collaborate with the engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
- Improve work processes using internal programs and maintain flexibility to travel as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently working toward a bachelor degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Working toward the prerequisites required for admission into the CPA Professional Program upon graduation.
- Previous accounting office experience is considered an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.
