About the role#
MNP is seeking a Summer Student to join the Assurance and Accounting team in Edmonton for the 2027 summer term. This is a full-time, paid position focused on providing financial information and advisory services to clients. The role requires on-site attendance and may involve travel as necessary.
What you'll do#
- Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping, and tax.
- Perform walkthroughs for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll with clients.
- Prepare financial statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other relevant reports.
- Review, investigate, and correct discrepancies in financial entries and documents.
- Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting.
- Collaborate with the client engagement team and build professional relationships with client contacts.
- Set up files for new clients and conduct inventory counts.
- Assess audit evidence for expenses, revenues, and capital assets.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration, with a preference for accounting or finance majors.
- Progress toward prerequisites for the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- Previous accounting-related office experience is an asset.
- Experience in customer or client service is an asset.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software is an asset.
